Vinismo is written by its readers -- Internet users like you -- and we need your help! Try our getting started guide to learn how.
Local resources pages are used to describe the local wine "scene" of a country, region, city or neighborhood or any other distinct area where lots of wine businesses and activities take place.
These pages can be created with our Resources template. It pre-fills every new Resources page with all the necessary sections. That template is not perfect; it's a work in progress. Feel free to discuss changes and improvements to it.
The Resources template can be chosen with a simple click on the magic words Local resources in the template selector, every time you start a new page.
edit How to start a new Resources page
To start a Resources page, there are two ways. The best way (the Wiki way, at least) is to create a link to it from another page. Typically, resources for a city would be linked from a Region resources page, which would be linked from a Country resources page. For example, the Los Angeles resources page| should be linked from the California resources page, which should be linked in the United States resources page.
The other way is to start the new page by typing its name in your browser's address bar, just after the /en/ part. Don't forget to start the name of your page with the namespace Resources:
When you're in the edit window for your new Resources page, before typing anything, you can choose the pre-filled Local Resources template by clicking on its link above the edit window.
edit Article naming conventions
Resources pages are named after the local region they describe, be it a country, a region, a county, a city, a neighborhood, etc.
IMPORTANT: Resources pages have their own namespace, called Resources. All Resources pages should have a name like Resources:New York or Resources:New Zealand.
edit Listing resources
The pre-filled sections of the template include Wine stores, Wine bars, Restaurants (that have something to do with wine, of course), Wine-tasting classes, and Wine groups & events. Of course, you should feel free to add other sections as needed.
To help other Vinismo users easily find the resources you're adding, you should use our Listing template for each and every resource listed in the page. To implement, use the following code for every listing, as many times as needed:
- {{listing|name=
- |url=
- |address=
- |phone=
- |hours=
- |description=
- }}
The last section in the template, Nearby, is a good place to add links to other Vinismo pages about neighbouring wine scenes.
edit Illustrations
Feel free to add nice illustrations showing some of the resources you're listing. Just make sure that they are compatible with our Copyleft licence. See Adding images for details.
