Portugal : Vinho Regional
Vinho Regional is a Portuguese appellation system based on the geographic area of production, less strict than the official DOC and IPR systems. It is similar to Vin de Pays in France, or Vino de la Tierra in Spain.
Vinho Regional appellations typically cover the territory of an entire winegrowing region of Portugal. Even if their criterias are less strict than DOCs and IPRs, Vinho Regional wines can reach a similar level of quality.
