These appellations are redundant with their parent region. Often the appellation is a lesser-quality wine that gets only the generic regional appellation. On the other hand, sometimes it's the most famous appellation of that region.

These are not really redundant; I named those articles with (appellation) in parenthesis just because they were the generic appellations for the departments of the same name (which contain other appellations as well), but there's no article about these departements anyway. So maybe we should just drop the "appellation" parenthesis altogether.
