My name is Evan Prodromou, and along with Niko I'm one of the two founders of Vinismo. It's the second major wiki I've started; in 2003 I founded the excellent Wikitravel, an Open Content travel guide.

I do most of the programming and system administration for Vinismo, so feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you find a bug or think of a way to make this site better. I'm really open to suggestions.

I'm not a wine expert by a long shot, but I love the mysteries of wine appreciation. I find the complex and intricate world of wine fascinating, and I'm glad that I have the opportunity to learn more about the art and science of wine.

I'm originally from San Francisco but I moved to Montreal in 2002. I live in a nice house in the Plateau with my wife, Maj, and our 2-year-old daughter, Amita June. Among other pursuits, I love to travel, program computers, and dance to electronic music.

As for wine: I'm fond of versatile, medium-bodied reds and light-bodied whites. The wines that I find the most interesting, in no particular order:

  • Wines of Greece and Portugal. I think these are two countries that are ready to blow up the world wine scene, and I think that intrepid explorers can find excellent wines from these countries for really reasonable prices.
  • Wines of Argentina. I'm travelling to Buenos Aires this spring, so I'm looking forward to learning more about this high-production country with a longtime wine tradition.
  • Cava.
  • Rieslings from Alsace and Germany.
  • Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand.
