Schiava is a light-skinned red grape grown in Trentino, Italy, and Southern Germany where it is known as Trollinger. The name in Italian means "slave" (feminine), which refers to the manner in which the vines were once bound or tied down in the vineyards.
edit Aromas
Schiava produces very light-bodied reds that might be confused for rosé wines by their color, though they tend to have a bit more tannin. They feature bright strawberry fruit.
