Simultaneously with the Red Bordeaux Grand Cru classification of 1855, 27 "liqueur" or "golden" whites from Sauternes and Barsac have been listed as "Crus classés".
This classification only had three classes, instead of five for the red wines. The 1st Cru Supérieur class doesn't exist in the red classification, and has only been given to Château d'Yquem.
