North Dakota is a state in the United States. In 2002, North Dakota became the last state in the Union to have a federally-bonded winery. Although not renowned for its vineyards or wines, North Dakota does feature a number of small wineries, especially those featuring locally grown fruit. Only a handful of North Dakota's 53 counties have commercial wineries offering commercial products.
The North Dakota Grape Growers Association was formed in 2006 with a mission to promote "the art and science of viticulture in North Dakota." One year later, its membership includes seven wineries and eight growers.
