edit History

Historically, the Livermore Valley was one of the earliest and arguably one of California’s most important wine regions in the 1800s. Robert Livermore planted the first commercial vines here in the 1840s. The district captured America's first international gold medal for wine in 1889 at the Paris Exposition. Today, a handful of serious growers and vintners are planting noble varieties along the best hillside locations in an effort to recapture Livermore’s historic lofty reputation.
