Laurent-Perrier was founded in 1812 by Alphonse Pierlot, who later bestowed the winery to his cellar master Eugène Laurent and his wife Mathilde Émilie Perrier.

When Laurent died in 1887, his widow renamed the winery Veuve Laurent-Perrier & Cie. Under this name the house knew a growing success in France and abroad between 1900-1920, reaching record-breaking productions of 50,000 cases and more.

While the company was badly damaged by Word War II, it soon recovered its glory, introducing innovations such as stainless steel tanks -- which it was the first to use in Champagne as early as 1950.

Today, Laurent-Perrier is one of the most famous Champagne "Houses" and enjoys broad success both home and abroad. In the US, its popularity was helped by its association with two major award ceremonies, as the official Champagne of the Oscars (since 1995) and the Emmy Awards (since 2001).

In 2004, Laurent-Perrier strengthened its position as one of the Champagne industry leaders by acquiring a competing Champagne "House", Château Malakoff.
