(Redirected from IGT)
Indicazione Geografica Tipica or IGT is an Italian appellation system, introduced in 1992 to help winemakers venture outside the strict confines of the DOC and DOCG appellations without sacrificing quality.
IGT appellations are typically larger than their neighboring DOCs or DOCGs. Some are region-wide, like Toscano in Tuscany and Sicilia in Sicily, while others are limited to a valley or range of hills.
