We're actively seeking mirrors; please let User:Evan know if you'd like to mirror this data.

edit File formats

The bulk downloads are available in the following file formats:

  • MediaWiki XML: a special XML format for wiki pages, including the wikitext and some metadata like authors, dates, titles, etc. You can download just the current version of articles ("current") or the full history ("full").
  • HTML: A tarball of the entire page database, with one HTML page per article.
  • Images: A tarball of available images. Not gzipped, since most of the images will already be compressed.

Downloads are named "vinismo.subwiki.contents.ext", where:

  • subwiki is the sub-wiki whose contents are in the tarball ("common", "en", "fr", ...)
  • contents is the format of the contents: "full", "current", "html", "image"
  • ext is the file extension; either .tar.gz (for text files) or .tar (for images)

Downloadable tarballs are generated once per week. Please be gentle and check the file timestamp before downloading the same file twice.

edit License

All contents of the downloads are available under the terms of the Vinismo:Copyleft, except wine labels, which are distributed under the principle of fair use. You should ensure that your use complies with such principles before re-publishing wine labels. If you are in doubt, consult an attorney.

edit Future enhancements

  • RDF: "Soon" we'll have a full RDF export of the structured data in the Vinismo database.
  • Bittorrent: If this feature starts to be too demanding on our Web server, we'll probably offload the downloading process to a Bittorrent server.
