edit History
50 years ago, Algeria used to be the first exporter and fourth producer of wine in the world with a production of more than 1.8 billion liters annually. Wine production plummeted in the 60s after Algeria obtained its independence from France. In recent years, government-sponsored efforts have succeeded to help wine producers reach a steady growth and develop new wine varieties. Algeria is now producing 210 million liters every year, and growing.
